Vinnie Jones CPR Advert Cleared By Watchdog

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) have cleared an advert showing Vinnie Jones demonstrating ‘hands-only’ CPR following complaints from 20 people. The ASA said that people complained because they said that the advert showed the wrong technique for CPR, however, the ASA said that the advert had been produced with help from the Resuscitation Council (UK) and was in line with the European Resuscitation Council Guidelines.

The advert was run by the British Heart Foundation to try to improve survival rates for people suffering cardiac arrest outside of hospital, rates that have been described as “appalling” at under 10%. More information on the story can be found here.

At Stockwood Consulting we have consistently taught that ‘hands-only’ CPR is always an option for first-aiders, and that it is an option for a first-aider who needs to coach a passer-by to assist with CPR. Any initiative that empowers people to intervene, or gives them the confidence to attempt CPR, should be applauded.

Why not book onto one of our first aid training courses running in Market Harborough, Leicester and Northamptonshire to either learn CPR or refresh your technique.
