£285.00First Aid at Work Course (FAW) is a three day (18 hour) course. It is aimed at equipping the first aider with a range of skills to deal with emergency situations as well as managing a range of illnesses and injuries. The 3 day course follows the Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) Course syllabus for the first day and then expanding on the skills acquired on days 2 and 3. It can help business meet their requirements under the Health and Safety (First Aid) regulations 1981. This course is aimed at higher risk environments but if you are a low risk environment then our 1 day Emergency First Aid at Work Course may be more suitable for you.

3-day First Aid at Work Course ( FAW) Programme
Day 1 ( 6 hours) content is Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW)
On completion of training, successful candidates should be able to:
Understand the role of the first aider including reference to:
– the importance of preventing cross infection
– the need for recording incidents and actions
– use of available equipment
Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizure)
Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation CPR
How to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking
Treat a casualty who is wounded and bleeding
Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock
Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries (including small cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds, small splinters).
Day 2 and day 3 (12 hours) content for First Aid at Work Course (FAW)
Provide emergency first aid at work (see above)
Administer first aid to a casualty with
– injuries to bones, muscles and joints, including suspected spinal injuries
– chest injuries
– burns and scalds
– eye injuries
– sudden poisoning
– anaphylactic shock
Recognise the presence of major illness and provide appropriate first aid (including heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma, diabetes).
External examination of candidates.
Requalification
The First Aid at Work Course is requalified by completing a 2 day First Aid at Work Course Requalification (FAWR) , providing the First Aid at Work certificate is within its valid lifetime. (The FAWR qualification can be taken up to 3 months before the date of expiry or within 28 days past expiry of FAW).
Registration is at 9.00am and the course begins at 9.15am and finishes at 5.00 pm. If you arrive late then you may not be able to complete the course.
Duration 18hrs over 3 days (Tuesday 12th March + Monday 18th March + Tuesday 19th March)
