This qualification is suitable for workers in the forests or glens of the Highlands & Islands and will maintain the license to practice for those with Outdoor National Governing Body Instructor awards.
This course is recognised THROUGHOUT THE UK (Cornwall to Caithness), is used by many who are based abroad and is the course of choice for experienced practitioners who use the outdoors.
The course consists of two units:
- Unit 1 Emergency First Aid Skills: This unit can lead to a qualification suitable for Emergency First Aid at Work (HSE) purposes and this additional certificate will be provided by request at then end of the course delivery.
- Unit 2 First Aid for Outdoor Incident Management: Completion of this unit content leads to the ITC Certificate in Outdoor First Aid qualification.
Delivery
This course is designed to meet the needs of those working away from immediate assistance in the remote regions of the UK. It is composed of 2 units for assessment, although the content from both units is typically delivered together, integrated throughout the course so that the course is relevant for, and aimed at, the outdoor worker from the moment candidates walk through the door. Comparing and contrasting what is different in the urban context when appropriate, giving the first aider a clear understanding of their first aid roles in urban and outdoor settings.
