DESCRIPTION:First Aid at Work Course (FAW) is a three day (18 hour) course. It is aimed at equipping the first aider with a range of skills to deal with emergency situations as well as managing a range of illnesses and injuries. The 3 day course follows the  Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) Course syllabus for the first day and then expanding on the skills acquired on days 2 and 3. It can help business meet their requirements under the Health and Safety (First Aid) regulations 1981. This course is aimed at higher risk environments but if you are a low risk environment then our 1 day Emergency First Aid at Work Course may be more suitable for you. \nSCL First Aid courses are fun and interactive and give you lots of practising of the skills you have learned. \n \n\n  \n\n3-day First Aid at Work Course ( FAW) Programme\nDay 1 ( 6 hours) content is Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW)\nOn completion of training\, successful candidates should be able to:\nUnderstand the role of the first aider including reference to:\n– the importance of preventing cross infection\n– the need for recording incidents and actions\n– use of available equipment\nAssess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely\, promptly and effectively in an emergency\nAdminister first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizure)\nAdminister cardiopulmonary resuscitation CPR\nHow to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)\nAdminister first aid to a casualty who is choking\nTreat a casualty who is wounded and bleeding\nAdminister first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock\nProvide appropriate first aid for minor injuries (including small cuts\, grazes and bruises\, minor burns and scalds\, small splinters). \nDay 2 and day 3 (12 hours) content for First Aid at Work Course (FAW)\nProvide emergency first aid at work (see above)\nAdminister first aid to a casualty with\n– injuries to bones\, muscles and joints\, including suspected spinal injuries\n– chest injuries\n– burns and scalds\n– eye injuries\n– sudden poisoning\n– anaphylactic shock\nRecognise the presence of major illness and provide appropriate first aid (including heart attack\, stroke\, epilepsy\, asthma\, diabetes).\nExternal examination of candidates. \nRequalification\nThe First Aid at Work Course  is requalified by completing a 2 day  First Aid at Work Course Requalification (FAWR) \, providing the First Aid at Work certificate is within its valid lifetime. SUMMARY:Annual Basic Skills Refresh Course
DESCRIPTION:Annual Basic Skills Refresh Course is an annual 3 hour essential life saving skills refresher that is recommended for those who have completed an Emergency First Aid at Work Course or a First Aid at Work Course. It could also be used for those with no previous first aid experience as a basic course to gain some skills to deal with life threatening situations. \nEveryone forgets things over a period of time. As your first aid certificate is valid for 3 years\, you may loose confidence or forget the skills to be able to deal with certain situations in that time. This annual basic skills refresh course is aimed to re-learn and refresh those life saving skills. Helping you become confident again to deal with those emergency life saving situations if they should happen. \nThe Health and Safety Executive recommend people attend these annual refreshers during the 3 years in-between gaining your certificate and it expiring so that your first aid skills remain current and you maintain confidence in your ability to deal with these life threatening situations. \nOur courses are fun and interactive and give you lots of practising of the skills you have learned to increase your confidence. This course has no written assessments to complete and it is all done by trainer observation. You will receive a certificate of attendance for this course. \n  \nTHIS COURSE DOES NOT REQUALIFY YOUR EMERGENCY FIRST AID AT WORK OR FIRST AID AT WORK COURSE IF IT HAS EXPIRED.
